Program Review
Aegean Airlines S.A. is considered the largest airline in Greece thanks to its total passengers' number carried, destinations serviced, and the fleet size. Since 2010 the airline, headquartered in Kifisia, a suburb of Athens, is a Star Alliance member. At the moment, it operates charter and scheduled flights to different major destinations all over Greece and other European and Middle Eastern countries. The main hubs are located in Athens International Airport, Thessaloniki International Airport, and Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus.
In addition, the airline uses other Greek airports as hubs, however, most of them depend on the season. Although the airline is the largest airline in Greece, it is not a flag carrier. Aegean Airlines stated that they were going to obtain Olympic Air on October 21, 2012. In a year, the European Commission approved the intention. Although, both airlines still operate under different brands.
